MCOA Specialty General Raffle Plea + Update on Room Raffle

Hi everyone,

Once again, we are starting to ask for donations for the 2009 MCOA National Specialty General Raffle! This year the MCOA National Specialty Dog Show will be held, May 11 through May 17, 2009 Fontana Village, NC.

As you may know, the MCOA is an organization of dedicated mastiff fanciers who strive to make life better for mastiffs and to improve the breed through education, health research, rescue, training, etc. We need these funds to continue MCOAs good work! The money will go to their general fund and will fund, amung other things, research for various health issues (cancer, seizure disorders, blindness, among many others) that affect mastiffs and other breeds, and some whose findings will ultimately benefit humans.

ABOUT MAKING A DONATION:

Each donated item will be described/displayed to the public prior to the raffle. The names of persons/businesses providing these items will be clearly labeled for the viewers to identify by whom they were donated. Each item will be displayed on the internet webpage associated with specialty, not only for the purpose of viewing available items, but also to advertise to the community your generous support of the MCOA. For donations valued at least $25.00, you will also receive recognition in the form of a donors advertising supplement so please include a business card with your donation.

Cash was in bed w/ me and I got up and he followed me, he walked around a bit and when I was done in the kitchen I came back to bed and he came and stood next to me and when he turned to walk away he was dragging his back leg behind him. He never cried or anything seriously I have NO idea what could have happened. He laid down and we found that his pinky nail on the back left leg was ripped off down to the "meat" but not bleeding! I think he's dragging his leg obviously because his toe hurts...but he's dragging it bad...and it's so scary!!! We'll call the vet first thing in the morning. I guess my question is, could the toe be the only problem? He can bend his leg any way and doesn't seem to have any pain, but when he tries to walk he drags it...Has this happened to anyone's dog? Please help if you're up. It's midnight and I don't know if this is an emergency...What should I do?

A question about titles

This may be a stupid question, lol. When entering shows & it asks for the "full name of dog", do you include titles? Would you include all of them (CGC, TDI, RN, RE, ect.) or just the CH?

Southern States Mastiff rescue is swimming in mastiffs for rescue. In florida alone we have over 27 in for adoption. The economy has hit families hard, and more are being turned in everyday. If you know of anyone looking for a great pet please send them our way.

Gort Acheives the Summit

Gort is 12 weeks old. He has been sniffing around for days trying to reach both the bed and the "designated dog sofa." Almost made the sofa yesterday. This afternoon he made a serious try at the bed so we formulated a puppy "intelligence test." He passed with flying colors.

Hope nobody minds lots of new videos. Our 15 year-old son is a "tech meister" and has a new camera. Turn on the speakers, he is proud of his music choice.

The Birk Economic Recovery Plan

Hi Pals,

I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a 'We Deserve It Dividend'.

To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 bon-a-fide U.S. Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every ma n, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that equals $425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a 'We Deserve It Dividend'.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free. So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes. That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket. A husband and wife has $595,000.00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?
Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.
Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads
Put away money for college - it'll be there
Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs.
Buy a new car - create jobs
Invest in the market - capital drives growth
Pay for your par ent's medical insurance - health care improves
Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.

If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( "vote buy" ) economic incentive that is being proposed by one of our candidates for President.

If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!

As for AIG - liquidate it.
Sell off its parts.
Let American General go back to being American General.
Sell off the real estate.
Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.

Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't.

Can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!

How do you spell Economic Boom?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion 'We Deserve It Dividend' more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC.

And remember, The Birk plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Ahhh...I feel so much better getting that off my chest.

O/T Traveling THROUGH Canada

My 17 year old son and myself will be traveling to Buffalo NY in approx 3 weeks. I live in MI, and planned on going straight across, through Canada, and enter NY.

I thought we only needed our drivers licences and birth certificates. Now people are saying we need passports. Has anyone gone back and forth lately?
